Sovereign infrastructure for the Swiss legal system

The vision behind Silex
“We built Silex because legal research remains one of the most complex problems in the legal profession, and one of the hardest to solve with AI.
It requires deep domain expertise, reliable access to structured legal sources, and the ability to reason consistently across the various sources at disposal with full traceability and access to source documents.
Generic AI models are not designed for that level of rigour. Silex was built specifically for it, on top of a dedicated centralized legal database.”

Our story
Developed in stealth since 2023 and launched in 2025, Silex (previously known as Ex Nunc Intelligence) emerged as the first LegalTech from EPFL and was created from a simple observation: the way legal research was still conducted in many law firms and institutions no longer reflects the complexity, pace and expectations of modern legal practice.
Our founding team encountered the same challenge repeatedly in their work. Legal research required navigating fragmented databases, outdated tools and manual analysis, even when speed and precision were critical. What was missing was not more information, but better infrastructure for working with the law.
Today, Silex is used by legal professionals across more than 700 law firms, notary offices, tax advisories and corporate legal departments.
